From Our Interim Dean
As chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medicine, I have seen firsthand the dedication of our leadership, staff, faculty and students, and have experienced our uniquely collaborative culture. And now, I am honored to lead our great institution as interim dean during this time of transition.
The remarkable momentum of our We’re Changing Medicine campaign is a testament to our dynamic community. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and friends, we are moving forward in each area of our mission to care, discover and teach, and creating transformative change in science and health care.
In order to truly alter the medical landscape, we must continue to pioneer groundbreaking and innovative approaches in all areas, incorporating the latest advances in research and technology. With the new Department of Systems and Computational Biomedicine described in our cover story, we are doing exactly that. The visionary gift from Ann and Board of Fellows member Andrew Tisch will support our efforts to quickly analyze critical data sets to discover the exact genetic code that is driving a given disease. Armed with that vital information, our clinicians will provide patients with world-class care that is precisely tailored to their specific needs. This revolutionary whole-systems approach is poised to transform the way we practice medicine.
Enhancing our computational biomedicine program is one example of how we will change medicine together, but there are many more. As we continue to grow our research enterprise and deliver important new treatments and cures to our patients, Weill Cornell Medicine is proudly at the forefront of this sea change in health care.
