Children’s Health Council families gathered for a virtual listening session to share thoughts and suggestions on Children’s Health Council activities. 

With COVID-19 vaccines on the horizon for children under 11, many parents have lingering questions about safety. Join us for a talk with leading vaccinologist Dr. Sallie Permar, whose research is at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19. Following her presentation, Dr. Permar will be joined by distinguished immunologist Dr. Virginia Pascual to address audience questions.

New Children’s Health Council members joined together for a virtual meet-and-greet with fellow new members and Children’s Health Council leaders.

Members will hear updates on Council activities as well as children’s health updates from faculty advisors Drs. Francis Lee, Virginia Pascual and Sallie Permar. 2020-2021 Children’s Health Investigators Fund recipients Drs. Industry-leading vaccinologist and new chair of the Weill Cornell Medicine Department of Pediatrics, Dr. Sallie Permar, will discuss how scientists design and test vaccines that are safe and effective for children. Neonatologist Dr. Matthew Smith-Raska demonstrated how he works to unravel the role genetic inheritance plays in the development of pediatric disorders like autism, congenital hear disease and cancer.

Children’s Health Council members and faculty gathered virtually to hear updates on Council activities and highlights from the investigators who receive Council support. During the event, the Children’s Health Council honored Dr. Gerald Loughlin as he stepped down from his role of Chair of the Department of Pediatrics after 18 years of service.
